CLIENT NOTIFICATION - Internal Penetration Testing

Government guidelines released earlier this week state that everyone should work from home wherever possible and to minimise unnecessary travel. This strategy is in an attempt to slow the spread of the virus amongst UK citizens.


We would therefore like to inform clients that currently have internal penetration testing scheduled that we are able to offer alternatives to sending a consultant onsite.


This is in line with the government guidelines released earlier this week and is aimed at maintaining the health of our consultants, your staff, and helping to reduce the likelihood of any infections transmitted by those who are not showing symptoms. The Internal penetration testing will still commence as scheduled using this method, and other than having no physical presence on site, you will still receive the same high-quality assessment you are used to.


Our SmartScan service was designed to support this type of scenario. The SmartScan device is not only used for performing vulnerability assessments, it can also be used to provide remote access to our consultants for troubleshooting purposes and to help identify false positives. Once connected to the device, our consultant has access to any system permitted by your access control lists and firewall rules, allowing the device to support an assessment of your internal network from the datacentre.

The device securely connects back to our Security Operations Centre in Halifax and can only be used by us, following authenticated connection from specific IP’s and trusted appliances. Our consultant is then able to communicate via the device in the same manner as if they were located in your office.
